23rd Annual Step Forward Day
September 10, 2011

Take a Step Forward in Your Community!

Alumni chapters, Waves of Service, and the Graduate School of Education and Psychology have organized 30 service projects around the world for the Pepperdine community to participate.

Don't see a service project in your area? Contact Sandra Barsoum at (310) 506-6982 to lead a project.

Step Forward Day is a simple yet profound way for the Pepperdine community to make a difference and live the mission of our alma mater. Each year, the Pepperdine community comes together for a day of service. For the volunteers, the tradition of Step Forward Day reflects a commitment that lasts beyond this single day of service.

Step Forward Day began in 1988 from the vision of two students who recognized the need for volunteers in the local community and wanted to share their passion for service with their peers. The projects began as small acts of service from helping with repairs on homes of local senior citizens to planting gardens at Webster Elementary. Today, 22 years later, the reach of Step Forward Day has grown to include community organizations and involves 2,000 alumni, students, parents, friends, staff, and faculty throughout the world.
