2Crescendo: 27th Annual Alumni Dinner and Show7th Annual Alumni Dinner and Show, now named “Crescendo” will take place with Pepperdine’s spectacular view.
This year’s Hollywood Bowl has been revamped, relocated, and renamed. Join us as we provide you with an elegant sunset dinner catered by Room 40 in the newly renovated Joslyn Plaza. Take in the ocean view and help us welcome back former alumni leaders to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Alumni Association as part of this time-honored tradition.  

Our program will include a special ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new plaza, after which you will be treated to Crescendo’s first exclusive performance incorporating the “high octane” modern rhythms of Barrage. More...

The Pepperdine University Alumni Association, working closely with the Chapter President’s Council, has developed a brief survey to solicit feedback and assess your interest regarding the types of events and programs you desire in your region. Regardless of your location, we want to bring Pepperdine home to you. Athletics Wraps Up Another Strong Year, Both on and off the Field
The Waves athletics teams completed another strong season, and two athletes in particular excelled in notable ways. Men's volleyball star Paul Carroll (
'09) was named the National Player of the Year by the American Volleyball Coaches Association and women's volleyball star Julie Rubenstein ('09) was the recipient of the 2009 Mike Gilleran Award, which honors the top female scholar-athlete in the West Coast Conference (WCC). Top honors also went to sports team leaders for their exceptional work with student athletes. Three Pepperdine coaches earned conference Coach of the Year honors. Presented by panelists Robert R. Cargill, Ph.D. (MS '00, MDiv '00), Naveen Jonathan, and Carolyn A. O'Keefe, Psy.D. (MA '02, PsyD '07). The Diversity Council Speaker Series welcomed a panel of speakers to discuss "Promoting Social Justice; Confronting Racism and Homophobia." The event took place on Tuesday, March 24, 2009. Panel members presented their views on promoting social justice - concentrating on groups that have traditionally been marginalized by society; including minority races and religions, as well as the lesbian, gay, transgender, and bisexual community. WAVES OF SUCCESS
Pepperdine President Receives Warm Welcome in Volunteer State
On June 25, Pepperdine University president Andrew K. Benton joined many in the Pepperdine community for a special reception in Nashville at the Hermitage Hotel, with a sweeping view of the Tennessee State Capitol. The evening was marked with incoming students experiencing the network of alumni they can look forward to when they graduate. Some alumni travelled several hours to join President Benton and the other alumni and families in attendance. Special thanks to Nashville Waves leadership Brent McCay (’06) and Christopher Cotton (JD ’97) for organizing such an excellent display of southern hospitality and Pepperdine heart.

Athletics Summer Camps
During the months of July and August, seven of Pepperdine’s elite coaches will host camps for children showcase camps for high school students and even offer an unique adult camp experience (tennis and baseball’s “Father and Son Camp”).

Camps are still open for sign-ups:

Supporting graduates in difficult economic times, the Graziadio School will provide MBA alumni up to 75% reduced tuition to help those who wish to take additional courses or complete a new emphasis in entrepreneurship, finance, global business, marketing, or leadership and change management. Douglas W. Kmiec, Pepperdine's Caruso Family Chair in Constitutional Law, participated in a discussion titled, "The Obama Administration and the Sanctity of Human Life: Is there a common ground on life issues? What is the right response by 'Pro-Life' Citizens?" The panel was hosted by the Catholic University of America at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. on May 28. Watch the video on C-SPAN. Kmiec spoke in conversation with Robert P. George, McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence at Princeton University. Update: Kemp Institute Dinner and Conference Rescheduled for October 21, 2009
After the passing of Jack F. Kemp on May 2, 2009, and in consultation with the Kemp family, the inaugural conference and dinner of the Jack F. Kemp Institute for Political Economy, originally scheduled for May 13, 2009, in Washington, D.C., was postponed until October 21, 2009. The event will be held at the Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington, D.C. Please visit the Kemp Institute inaugural event Web site for program details as they become available.
