Applicants will be asked to submit a visual audition, unedited, in NTSC format on DVD or VHS with clear audio of their playing. The camera should not be stopped between pieces. Contestants should also include a résumé of musical experience and a black-and-white photograph. Audio alone is not acceptable.

The audition (not to exceed thirty minutes) must include both of the following selections in addition to free-choice pieces:

• Agustín Barrios Mangoré's La catedral (all movements) (approximate time 7:00)
• J.S. Bach's "Chaconne" from the Violin Partita No. 2, transcribed by Andrés Segovia, Schott and Co. edition (approximate time 13:30)

The application deadline is 5 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2006.  Fifteen competitors will be chosen from among the applicants.  Competitors will be notified by Wednesday, March 15, 2006. Audition materials will not be returned.

Age Requirements

Applicants to the Parkening International Guitar Competition must have been born on or after January 1, 1976.
