Schedule

Fifteen competitors will perform the first day of the competition. Five semi-finalists will be selected after the first day to proceed to the second day. Three finalists will be selected after the second day to proceed to the third and final day of the competition.

Wednesday, May 31, 9:00 AM (fifteen competitors):

All competitors will perform a program not to exceed fifteen minutes. The program must include Agustín Barrios Mangoré's La cathedral (approximate time 7:00). All movements should be presented. The balance of the program will be free choice.

Thursday, June 1, 1:00 PM (five semi-finalists):

The five semi-finalists will perform a program not to exceed thirty minutes. The second program must include J.S. Bach's "Chaconne" from the Violin Partita No. 2, transcribed by Andrés Segovia, Schott and Co. edition (approximate time 13:30). The balance of the program will be free choice. Works from the first round may not be included in the second round.

Friday, June 2, 7:30 PM (three finalists):

The three finalists will perform a full concerto on the third day of the competition with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. Any one of the following concertos is to be performed. In addition to the concerto, finalists will present an encore piece of their choice, not to exceed five minutes that may be selected from a previous round.

The medalists and prizewinners will be announced after the conclusion of the orchestral segment.

All competition performances will be open to the public and will take place in Smothers Theatre.

Pepperdine University reserves the right to change any or all criteria or details pertaining to the Competition.
