Club Information

The Pepperdine Triathlon Team is a group of students committed to training for and competing in triathlons. The club provides group workouts, coaching from a nationally-certified USA Triathlon coach and support for a great fitness lifestyle.

We will be competing in the West Coast Collegiate Triathlon Conference (WCCTC), which includes 24 college teams throughout California and elsewhere in the region. There are two race lengths:

  • Sprint - 400m-500m Swim, 12.4 mile Bike, 3.1 mile Run
  • Olympic Distance - 1500m Swim, 24.8 mile Bike, 6.2 Run (Conference race)

Although triathlons sports require endurance training, they are fun and easy to learn. Here are some things you will need to get started:

All races are different – Either pool, lake or ocean swim.

Gear Needed: Goggles, Swim Cap, Suit

A bike is needed to be a Competitive Member of the team.

Gear Needed: Bike, helmet, shoes (clips or cages), bike shorts, water bottle holder

The terrain for most races is along the road

Gear needed: Running Shoes, running shorts

We are a Club Sports Team. We are not associated with NCAA, which means our funding is limited. We will be using sponsorships and fundraising to lower membership costs, but dues are still necessary to make competition possible.

Compared to most clubs, our dues are very low. They will purely go to covering the costs of training and competition, such as race entry fees, uniforms, USA Triathlon (USAT) registration fees, team t-shirts, and food and travel costs. After you’ve paid, you don’t have to worry about any other costs throughout the year unless you want to do extra races. The dues cover one sprint triathlon and one Olympic triathlon or three sprint triathlons.
