Pepperdine to Honor Kairos at Church Celebration Dinner on May 3

Kairos LogoPepperdine will honor the Kairos Church Planting Ministry during the Pepperdine Bible Lectures at the Church Celebration Dinner on May 3, 2013. Kairos is a nationwide church planting movement from the tradition of churches of Christ that is supporting a network of church planters.

Executive Director of Kairos, Stan Granberg, says there are two key questions facing the churches of Christ today in the wake of significant decline in membership. “Are churches of Christ capable of engaging the twenty-first century?” In the last five years Kairos has seen that that our heritage and theology is capable of responding to the challenges and opportunities of this generation. Granberg says, “The second question—Are we willing to engage the twenty-first century?— remains unanswered.”

Granberg wonders if we are willing to trust 30-40 year-old emerging church leaders who have the heart and the theological foundation to engage this current generation. But he warns, if we wait another 10 years, this question will be answered for us.

The Kairos executive team will be hosting an information session at 4:30 – 6:00 pm on May 1, 2013 in the Hahn Fireside Room on Pepperdine’s Malibu campus.
