Pepperdine University has announced that Mike Cope, director of ministry outreach, will begin a preaching ministry at Golf Course Road Church of Christ (GCR) in Midland, Texas this fall. Cope, who directs Pepperdine’s annual Bible Lectures, will continue to serve as the University’s director of ministry outreach while increasing his preaching role at GCR.

Cope has served as a teaching minister at the Golf Course Road congregation for the past two years. “My wife and I have fallen in love with this church. I’m looking forward to deepening our relationship with the congregation while, at the same time, continuing to lead the Pepperdine Bible Lectures,” says Cope.

Rick Gibson, Pepperdine University’s vice president of public affairs and church relations, says, “We encouraged Mike to pursue this ministry opportunity with the Golf Course Road Church of Christ, for we believe his new role aligns with the purpose of his work at Pepperdine.”

In addition to preaching at Golf Course Road, Cope will also serve on the church’s senior leadership team.
