Billy Curl received the Christian Leadership Award on May 2, 2014. President Andrew Benton, VP for Public Affairs and Church Relations Rick Gibson and Director of Ministry Outreach Mike Cope presented the award to Curl at the 71st Annual Bible Lectures.
Working with the Crenshaw Church of Christ of over 42 years, Billy Curl has made evangelism a lifestyle. His many accomplishments include working as a missionary in Ethiopia for six years — planting churches which today hold a combined total of 30,000 members. His background in speech pathology allowed him unique access to both the deaf and the well of hearing during his decades-long preaching career.
The Distinguished Christian Service Award was created to honor preachers, professors, missionaries, and other church leaders from within Churches of Christ who have given their lives in service to the cause of Christ.
