Development Director positions are available for the Houston region which direct and represent one or more geographic regions of Texas and other areas as assigned. Each individual develops and executes long and short-term strategies to secure philanthropic support in concert with the chief development officer and development team. Lead the major and planned gift solicitation process in the region by focusing on prospects under personal management and by supporting and facilitating solicitations directed by other staff and leadership. Ensure that prospects capable of major gifts are cultivated and solicited in an appropriate, deliberate manner. Participates in performance improvement for the department and the organization. Demonstrates an ability to work collaboratively with the entire development team to achieve departmental and organizational goals. Completes other duties as requested. Accepts additional assignments willingly with a demonstrated ability to perform a variety of duties while maintaining flexibility as needs change. Demonstrates an ability to respond to changing workloads and crisis and emergency situations •Primary Relationships This position reports to the Chief Development Officer and is a key member of the development department’s field staff. The position works collaboratively with the special events coordinator assigned to the region. DEVELOPMENT OFFICERS DO NOT PLAN EVENTS – THEY FILL EVENTS. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree. • Previous fundraising experience with a proven track record of raising money. • Must be a Christian who is willing to promote our cause in front of all denominations, community and Bible churches. • Must be local to Houston. • Experience with planned giving tools is a plus. • Must be willing to travel. This position will involve some travel as this territory extends as far south as Corpus, as far North as Nacogdoches, as far east as the border, and as far west as Lagrange. However, the majority of all work will be done in Houston proper. If planned giving experience is present, there may be spotty travel to other locations throughout Texas. • Must be a team player who is driven and not timid about working very hard. • May be male or female; willing and able to report to a female boss. • Person must present well in front of influential Houstonians and philanthropic representatives from businesses and corporations. • Highly prefer that this candidate comes from another Houston non-profit organization. • Ideal candidate will have connections with influential individuals, businesses of corporations. |

| Type: ministry internship Salary: $300/week, plus room and board Description: Northwest Church of Christ Chicago, Illinois Ministry Intern Job Description Thanks for your interest in our summer ministry internship. As our summer intern, your primary focus would be to win teens in grades 6-12 to Christ, connect them with other Christians, and to help them grow in their faith. You would serve, lead, teach, mentor, and encourage our teens in their walk with God in the context of service projects, activities, classes, and just hanging out. We’re confident that God will use the student we select to create something in our teens that will last long after the summer is over. The ministry intern will be supervised by the ministers. Specific responsibilities include: Teaching or co-teaching at least one, and preferably two, Bible classes per week. Preparation for and leadership in Vacation Bible School. Coordinating and leading service opportunities. Planning and leading outreach efforts, retreats, devotionals, etc. Bible studies, prayer and informal counseling as needed. Because we are a small congregation and our ministers do not specialize, other opportunities for ministry will likely include: Leading in worship (singing, prayer, etc.) Preaching on occasion Working in our food pantry, nursing home ministry, etc. Hospital visitation When not involved in ministry-related activities, our intern maintains daily office hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. The day typically begins with a devotional. Office hours are used for planning, coordination with adult youth volunteers, class and activity preparation, and administrative duties. The intern will be provided with office space, phone, computer, and other necessary equipment. Normal days off will be Monday and Saturday when youth functions are not scheduled for those days. Other time off will be addressed as necessary. Salary/Expenses: Interns will receive a salary of $250-$300 a week. Meals will be provided. All ministry - related expenses will be paid or reimbursed. Housing will be provided. It will be very helpful for the intern to have his own vehicle. (Gas will be reimbursed.)
