Pepperdine IT and Friends Respond to Haiti
In response to the devastating earthquake, Pepperdine Information Technology (IT) organized a division-wide donation drive to raise $1,000 for Haiti's earthquake victims. Many IT employees participated in the donation drive, some of whom already made personal donations. The Provost's office, Payson Library staff, and Graduate School of Education and Psychology staff also participated after learning of IT's effort through word of month. On Monday, Feb. 8, $1,221 was delivered to the West Los Angeles American Red Cross chapter for the Haiti Relief Effort.

Law School Raises Funds with "Share the Love" Contest
Share the Love, a fundraiser held among students at the Pepperdine School of Law, has raised more than $700 this year, donating the proceeds to World Vision for Haiti. The fundraiser is a challenge between first, second, and third-year students.
Here is the breakdown:
First-years: $192
Second-years: $190
Third-years: $321

Update from the University Church of Christ: As of Tuesday, Feb. 9, the University Church of Christ has raised $11,285.10 for Haiti since the first earthquake hit. Funds have been sent to Healing Hands International, a Church of Christ disaster relief organization based out of Nashville, Tennessee. Healing Hands is very active in Haiti relief efforts.

Donate your Dining Points: Students may donate up to 50 meal points (each point is worth $1) from their meal card for Haiti Relief. The funds collected will be transferred to the UN World Food Program.

Candlelight Vigil Update! Due to rain, the candlelight vigil at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9, will take place inside Stauffer Chapel instead of outside at the amphitheatre.

Candlelight Vigil - Students, faculty, and staff are invited to a prayer vigil for Haiti at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9  in the amphitheatre on the Malibu campus. The vigil will include prayers, a moment of silence, and all will receive a candle to light.

Immediately after the vigil, at 8 p.m., Malibu Presbyterian University Ministries and the University Campus Church of Christ's "Collide" will have a "One Love" worship service at Malibu Presbyterian. In addition, student Daniel Dugger is organizing 24 hours of prayer immediately following the vigil. Students can sign up for an hour slot to pray for Haiti within the 24 hours following the vigil. Share the Love - Each year, students at the School of Law organize Share the Love, a one-week fundraising effort to support a ministry or people in need. This year, Share the Love will be three weeks long and will be contributing its money to World Vision for Haiti. Share the Love began on Monday, Jan. 25 and will end on Friday, Feb. 13. T-shirt Fundraiser for Haiti - Joining sister schools across the nation, the Pepperdine University Student Government Association is launching a fundraising campaign to sell "Together for Haiti" T-shirts. The shirts (pictured right) will be sold for $10 each with proceeds going to World Vision. To purchase a T-shirt, visit the SGA booth in Waves Café on the Malibu campus.

International Programs Responds to Earthquakes in Haiti - International Programs is partnering with World Vision to help provide financial support for Haitians. Visit their office on the second floor of the Thornton Administrative Center, where there is a booth where cash and check donations will be accepted and then sent to World Vision. The goal is to raise at least $1 per student at Pepperdine … a total of $3,200. Prayer cards are also available with images from the disaster on one side and names of those that are still lost on the other. Visit the International Programs Web site for more information. 

Dessert for Donation Fundraiser - Pepperdine's REELSTORIES FilmFest, taking place on Friday, Jan. 22, will offer desserts for a donation to help the Haitian people. The awards ceremony will begin 10 p.m. under the stars in Joslyn Plaza. To learn more about how to contribute, contact reelstoriesfilm@gmail.com or visit the REELSTORIES FilmFest Web site.

Prayer Service - In response to Tuesday's devastating earthquake in Haiti, the Pepperdine community participated in a time of prayer on January 15, from 12 noon to 12:30 p.m. in Stauffer Chapel on the Malibu campus. Students, faculty, and staff used this time together to remember before God the tens of thousands who have lost loved ones in this tragedy, and the Haitian people as they struggle to restore order and resources.
