Innovative Education and Environmental Policy Research Goes on Display at Capstone Fair

Research by students at the School of Public Policy goes on display Thursday, Apr. 16, for an afternoon fair to showcase their educational and environmental capstone projects. Taking place from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Executive Dining Center on the Drescher Graduate Campus, the students' research highlights policy issues at the local, regional, state, national, and international levels.

The Policy Research Capstone Seminar is a project that develops and presents a major policy program design and implementation plan using a real situation in an actual global, state, or local agency. Students develop a clearly focused mission, strategy, and an implementation plan. The project requires personal planning, a budget plan, and a clear method for securing approvals from all interested parties whose ownership is critical for its success.

The research topics on display address hot-button topics. Some of the ideas presented include forgiving student loans in order to stimulate the economy, funding health centers in public schools, enacting an apology resolution to Native Americans, making clean energy affordable to the working class, and the financial sustainability of solar energy.
