Pepperdine to Participate in 38th Annual Malibu Arts Festival
In a continuing effort to bridge the University with the local Malibu community, Pepperdine will take part in the 38th annual Malibu Arts Festival themed, "Where Art Meets Beauty." The festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, July 25 to 26, at the Malibu Civic Center.
Hosted by the Malibu Chamber of Commerce, of which Pepperdine University is a member, the event will include over 200 individual artists and exhibits on display.
"We are pleased to be a part of the Malibu Arts Festival and celebrate the arts and step into the Malibu community to share the wonderful resources we have here with our neighbors and Malibu visitors," says Heidi Bernard, director of the Crest Associates at Pepperdine, chair of the festival, and president of the Chamber of Commerce.
Considered “one of the most beautiful outdoor art festivals in the nation,” the Malibu Arts Festival features award-winning painters, sculptors, photographers, jewelers and other unique artisans.
Other activities include a pancake breakfast, served by the Optimist Club, from 8 to 11 a.m. daily. The "Chamber Village" will feature local companies, including a Pepperdine University booth. The "Children's Village" will offer educational and fun activities on sustainability including creating their own art. There will also be a new dining terrace featuring local menu items and a "Wine Garden." Finally, there will be live musical performances from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
"The Pepperdine community of students, faculty, and staff invest in local businesses throughout the year and we appreciate the friendship and support that they give back to our students through our many university events and programs," Bernard says.
