Intercultural Affairs Hosts “Loqui: A Celebration of Diversity and Inclusive Excellence”
The Office of Intercultural Affairs (ICA) at Pepperdine will host a graduation celebration, Loqui: A Celebration of Diversity and Inclusive Excellence, on Friday, Apr. 27, to honor and highlight the achievements of students whose commitment to advancing diversity and equity in higher education has enriched the Pepperdine community. The event will begin at 1 p.m. in Smothers Theatre, Malibu, and will feature student performances and presentations, as well as remarks by Seaver College dean Rick Marrs.
Retiring math professor Carolyn Adjemian, associate professor of religion and Hispanic studies Daniel Rodriguez, and associate dean of student affairs Tabatha Jones Jolivet will also speak at the event, which Stella Erbes will provide the keynote address. Erbes is an assistant professor of teacher education and teaches courses in educational psychology, secondary school teaching, and educational technology.
Two graduating seniors, a male and female, will be honored with the Bowers, Davis, and Todd Award for Leadership in Diversity and Inclusive Excellence. The award recognizes students who demonstrate an active commitment to advancing institutional diversity and inclusive excellence at Seaver College as part of their Christian faith witness. The award is named for the legacy and foundational work of three legendary campus leaders: Calvin Bowers, Jennings Davis, and Grace Lucilly Todd.
