Ryan Board Directs Women’s Chamber Choir Performance
The women’s chamber choir will perform a concert of sacred music on Friday, Oct. 26. The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Stauffer Chapel, Malibu, directed by Ryan Board.
The women's chamber choir was created for the purpose of preparing a variety of challenging music for the smaller ensemble. Students are encouraged to develop the technical science of music and vocal production together, advance the science of transforming the composer's intentions into an inspiring art form, and engage the University's mission by sharing the gift of music as a Christian service to society.
Ryan Board is the director of choral activities in the Pepperdine Fine Arts Division, where he also directs the concert choir and teaches conducting, music history, and music education. He directed the renowned KC Collegium Vocale for four years and was the director of the Armonia Early Music Ensemble before that.
Early in his career, Board taught choral music as public schools in Idaho, and served as associate music director for the World Vision Youth Ambassador Program, for which he performed and conducted in more than 18 countries in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. He earned his BME degree from the University of Northern Colorado, his MM degree from Westminster Choir College, and his DMA degree from the Conservatory of Music at the University of Missouri in Kansas City.
Concert tickets are free; call the Smothers Theatre Box Office at (310) 506-4522, or visit the Center for the Arts website for more information.
