Pepperdine Libraries Hosts "KJB: The Book That Changed the World" Film Screening
In conjunction with the "Manifold Greatness" exhibition taking place at Payson Library from August 23 to September 21, Pepperdine Libraries will host a screening of KJB: The Book That Changed the World Sunday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m. at Elkins Auditorium, Malibu. A discussion led by Craig Detweiler, director of the Center for Entertainment, Media and Culture and associate professor of communication, will follow.
Hosted by actor John Rhys-Davies, the 90-minute drama documentary focuses on the story behind the translation of the King James Bible and tells the tale of saints and sinners, power, and passion.
"Manifold Greatness: The Creation and Afterlife of the King James Bible" is a traveling exhibition that celebrates the 400 years since the first printing of the historic tome. Based in Payson Library, Malibu, until September 21, the exhibit will contain high-quality reproductions of rare and historic books, manuscripts, and works of art from the Folger Shakespeare Library and the Bodleian Library collections, combined with interpretive text and related images.
