Pepperdine Hosts Choral Masterworks Benefit Concert for the Men, Women, and Veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces
Pepperdine will host a performance collaboration between the Pepperdine choirs, San Diego State University Chamber Singers, and Malibu High School Chamber Choir on Saturday, Apr. 13, as the groups come together to present a tribute and benefit concert for the men, women, and veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces.
The concert, directed by Ryan Board, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Smothers Theatre, Malibu, and will feature Ralph Vaughan Williams' Dona Nobis Pacem, performed with orchestra.
A reception for the audience, performers, donors, and currently-serving or veteran members of the U.S. Armed Forces will take place immediately following the concert.
Board, director of choral activities, is a choral artist, guest conductor, teacher, and clinician. He was formerly a member of the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory faculty, where he conducted the Conservatory Singers, taught undergraduate and graduate conducting, graduate choral literature, and led the graduate choral conducting program. Board has taught choral music in the public schools of Idaho and served as associate music director for the World Vision Youth Ambassador Program; the New Jersey Masterwork Chorus, Trinity Episcopal Church, Princeton; and William Paterson University. He is currently a member of the Simon Carrington Chamber Singers.
