"Eight Lipsticks" 1988
From January 11 to March 30, 2014, the Weisman Museum will display a selection of works from California Pop artist Wayne Thiebaud. A reception on Saturday, Jan. 11, from 5 to 7 p.m., will formally open the exhibit.
Printmaking has always been an important medium for California Pop artist Thiebaud. Throughout his career, he turned to graphics to develop pictorial ideas by exploring unique qualities of line and color. The exhibition in the Weisman Museum, drawn from the holdings of the California State University, Sacramento, will cover his entire career from the 1950s to the present and include examples of his work in etching, lithography, woodcut, and other graphic media.
The exhibition is free. For more information, visit the Center for the Arts website.
