The Diane and Guilford Glazer Institute for Jewish Studies at Pepperdine University will host a special event on Wednesday, Mar. 6 featuring Oscar-winning screenwriter, Eric Roth (Forrest Gump, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), to discuss his work on the powerful film, Munich (2005).
The film will be screened in CCB 100, Malibu, from 4 to 6:45 p.m., followed by a discussion and Q&A from 7 to 8 p.m. between Roth, Craig Detweiler, and Monica Osborne.
Directed by Steven Speilberg, Munich stars Eric Bana and Daniel Craig as Mossad operatives responding to the assassination of seven Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics in 1972. Roth and his co-writer Tony Kushner were nominated for an Academy Award for their screenplay.
"Eric Roth is amongst the greatest screenwriters in the history of Hollywood," Detweiler notes. "He warmed our hearts with Forrest Gump and raises our consciousness with Munich. This will be a provocative discussion of a profound film that continues to resonate."
