Pepperdine Hosts Social Media Expert Beth Kantor for 2013 Nonprofit Leadership Institute
Beth Kantor, an international leader in nonprofits and social media, will be the keynote speaker of the 2013 Nonprofit Leadership Institute at Pepperdine on March 15 and 16. This year’s conference, titled “The Networked Nonprofit: Achieving Social Media Success,” will take place at the Villa Graziadio Executive Center, Malibu.
The Institute will explore how nonprofit organizations are harnessing the potential of social media strategies to change the world. Using examples and case studies of nonprofits attending the institute, social media expert Kanter, will lead the learning community in an interactive and engaging dialogue about these powerful tools.
Kanter's first book, The Networked Nonprofit, introduced the sector to a new way of thinking and operating in a connected world. Her second book, Measuring the Networked Nonprofit, is a practical guide for using measurement and learning to achieve social impact. She is the author of Beth's Blog: How Nonprofits Can Use Social Media, considered the go-to source for how nonprofits can use networks and social media for social change.
She has over 30 years working in the nonprofit sector in technology, training, and capacity and has facilitated trainings for nonprofits on every continent in the world (except Antarctica). Named one of the most influential women in technology by Fast Company and one of BusinessWeek's "Voices of Innovation for Social Media," Kantor is a Visiting Scholar at the David and Lucile Packard Foundation 2009-2013.
