Directed by Christopher Parkening, Distinguished Professor of Music and chair of the guitar department, the Pepperdine Guitar Ensemble will perform Tuesday Nov. 19, at 7:30 p.m. at the Raitt Recital Hall, Malibu.
"This concert is a culmination of our students' experience this semester in guitar ensemble," says Anastasios Comanescu, adjunct professor of music and guitar. " We have a lovely program put together that showcases our students in a variety of ensembles, with string quartet, guitar duo, guitar quartet, guitar and voice, and mixed ensembles."
The program will begin with three movements from the Capriol Suite by early twentieth-century composer Peter Warlock and end with a performance of Johan Pachelbel's Loose Canon, as arranged by the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. Other pieces include Leonard Bernstein's A Simple Song for Mass, as well as Jonathan Ross's Avidity.
Tickets to the performance are free to Pepperdine faculty, staff, or student with ID. For more information, visit the Center for the Arts website.
