The Associated Women for Pepperdine (AWP) will host its 2013 Fall Festival boutique, "A World Fair," from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, in the Hahn Fireside Room on the Malibu campus. The event serves as a fundraiser for the organization, which offers financial assistance and service for the Christian students at Pepperdine University.
This year's theme is "A World Fair," which will feature items from around the globe, including jewelry handcrafted by the Maasai Tribe in Kenya, boxes hand carved and painted in Romania, oriental boxes, porcelain pieces, and Persian rugs. Also included will be handcrafted notecards, lavender products, photography, special decorative items, scarves, vintage clothing, jewelry, and more.
AWP began on June 5, 1958, when more than 300 Christian women from churches all over Southern California met for brunch on the lawn of the original Pepperdine campus in Los Angeles. By the end of the first year, there were 750 members in 18 districts. Within three years the membership numbered more than 2,000 women. Since then, AWP has given more than $4 million in financial assistance to worthy young people, as well as countless hours of dedicated service.
