Rabbi Tamara Eskenazi Explores “Out from the Shadows: Women in the Hebrew Bible”

On Monday, Feb. 17, Rabbi Tamara Eskenazi will discuss “Out from the Shadows: Women in the Hebrew Bible” at 12 noon in the Surfboard Room of Payson Library, Malibu.

The guest lecture will explore representations of women in the Bible and the perspectives that have been brought to light over the last century as modern women readers have given their voices and visions to the interpretation of the text.

Dr. Tamara Cohn Eskenazi is professor of Bible at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Los Angeles. She is the first woman appointed as professor to the rabbinical faculty of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion's long history, which began in 1875.
