Dan Caldwell served for three years on active duty as an officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve. During that time, he held positions at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, and the Executive Office of the President in Washington, D.C.

Caldwell is the author of American-Soviet Relations, The Dynamics of Domestic Politics of Arms Control, World Politics and You (an international relations textbook), Seeking Security in an Insecure World (with Robert E. Williams) and, most recently, Vortex of Conflict: U.S. Policy Toward Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq. He also has edited four other books and written a number of articles and chapters in professional journals and books.

Caldwell has appeared as an expert commentator on Fox News Channel, C-SPAN, KCAL 9, KTTV Fox 11, KNX 1070 News Radio, KFWB News 980 Radio, and KABC-AM Radio. He has been quoted as an expert in such publications as Science and the Los Angeles Times, and has written Op-Eds for the Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles Daily News and the Christian Science Monitor.

Prior to joining the faculty at Pepperdine's School of Law, Harry Caldwell served as a trial deputy with the Riverside District Attorney's office and later served in a similar position with the Santa Barbara District Attorney. In 1980, he joined the law faculty at Pepperdine where he focuses on trial advocacy, criminal procedure and criminal law. Caldwell was honored as a Luckman Distinguished Teaching Fellow in 1991 and again in 2000. Also in 2000, the Roscoe Pound Institute selected him as the nation's premier trial practice teacher.

Caldwell has written extensively in the areas of criminal procedure and trial advocacy. In 1998, he co-wroteLadies and Gentlemen of the Jury: The Ten Greatest Closing Arguments. the Los Angeles Times selected the book for its Best Nonfiction of 1998 Award. In 1990, he wrote The California Criminal Trialbook. He also co-authored The Art and Science of Trial Advocacy with Pepperdine professors Tim Perrin and Carol Chase.

Caldwell also represents inmates on California's death row in their appeals to the California Supreme Court. Caldwell has been featured as an expert in several publications including the Ventura County Star.

James R. Wilburn has served as dean of Pepperdine University's School of Public Policy since September 1996. Before joining the School of Public Policy, Wilburn served as dean of Pepperdine's Graziadio School of Business and Management for 12 years and was a professor of strategy. During Wilburn's years as dean of the business school, it moved more aggressively into international business and started five new academic programs with the nation's foremost program for mid-career adults and the largest MBA program west of Chicago.

Wilburn has extensive experience in public policy, both internationally and domestically. He served as co-chairman of the U.S. Committee to Assist Russian Reform, a program funded by the U.S. Department of State. He was appointed by President Ronald Reagan to head the board of the CFTR Education Foundation. He also has served as corporate director of several companies in the United States and Europe.

Wilburn has appeared as an expert commentator on newscasts and shows including KNX 1070 Newsradio in Los Angeles, KTLA-TV, FOX-TV, NPR and Voice of America.He has been quoted in several publications including the Los Angeles Times and the Christian Science Monitor.
