Cara Garcia came to Pepperdine University from the Los Angeles Unified School District where she was a teacher and teacher advisor. She teaches methods courses, chairs dissertations and supervises educational therapy services offered through the clinic at Pepperdine. Her research interests focus on academic anxiety, specifically reading and writing blocks, test anxiety, stage fright, and math anxiety.
Garcia is the author of Too Scared to Learn, which offers a clear, dynamic rationality and methodology for dealing with children who have academic anxiety. Garcia has been quoted as an expert in several publications including the Los Angeles Times.
