1909 George Pepperdine, 23, starts a mail-order auto parts business with $5 capital
Sep. 21, 1937 George Pepperdine College opens in south L.A. with 167 students and 22 faculty
1947 Touchdown! Pepperdine wins national small college football championship in the Will Rogers Bowl
1958 Associated Women for Pepperdine (AWP), a scholarship support organization, founded; tuition, room, and board cost $1,238 per year
1969 Pepperdine acquires Orange University College of Law; School of Business and Management established
1971 Pepperdine becomes a university; School of Education established
1975 Gov. Ronald Reagan addresses dedication of Malibu campus (opened 1972) as Frank R. Seaver College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences
1986 Institute for Dispute Resolution established at School of Law
1996 Institute for Public Policy established (to become School of Public Policy); Graziadio School named for George L. Graziadio
2000 Andrew K. Benton inaugurated as Pepperdine's Seventh president
