Der Spiegel, Aug. 1, 2005 - Karen Martin, Frank R. Seaver Chair of Biology for the Natural Science Division, was featured in the German publication in an article about grunion. Professor Martin’s studies and “Grunion Greeters” project, which observes grunion all along the coast of California, are also mentioned.
Bloomberg.com, Aug. 1, 2005 – Douglas Kmiec, Caruso Family Chair in Constitutional Law, was quoted in an article titled “Roberts Debate Focuses on Respect for U.S. High Court Precedent” about how the U.S. Senate will determine whether or not to appoint Judge Roberts to the Supreme Court.
Newsweek, Aug. 2, 2005 – Pepperdine alumnus Mike Marriner was quoted in an article titled “Education: Need Help? Check Down The Hall,” about some of the most original and useful student-run services. Marriner and his friends founded Roadtrip Nation, a company that operates three RVs for summer trips to film interviews for a PBS documentary. RTN accepts applications from students for a free spot on the RVs and also provides Roadtrip Grants for students who hit the road on their own and agree to film interviews.

Associated Press, Aug. 5, 2005 - Former Wave Jason Gore was featured in an article titled "Gore Shoots 59 in Second Round of Nationwide Tour Event" about how he finished 12-under 59 Friday in the second round of the Nationwide Tour's Cox Classic. Gore is only the third golfer to accomplish the feat on the developmental tour.

Toronto Star, Aug. 25, 2005 - Etta Kralovec, director of the student teaching, master’s of arts in education and teaching credentials program at the Graduate School of Education and Psychology, was quoted in an article titled “Homework Boring and Useless, Experts Agree,” about the downside to assigning too much homework to elementary students.
Al–Arabiyya Network (Dubai), Aug. 26, 2005 – Khalil Jahshan, executive director of the Washington, D.C. internship program, appeared on the weekly show "Across the Ocean.” Jahshan discussed the controversial remarks by Pat Robertson calling for the "taking out" of President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela and freedom of speech in United States. The segment also dealt with the recent decision by Roget's Thesaurus to remove all entries for the word "Arab" from its online version for including 16 pejorative synonyms such as beggar, delinquent, derelict, tramp, vagabond and welfare bum.
NBC’s Today Show, Aug. 27, 2005 – Pepperdine University was featured in a news segment about the beginning of the academic year. The show’s weekend edition host, and his son, a freshman at Pepperdine, did a live broadcast from J. Pengilly Hall about students moving into the dorms and parents saying goodbye.
