Council on Foreign Relations, Jan. 19, 2006 – The audio version of a 45-minute interview with Dan Caldwell, Pepperdine University distinguished professor of political science, was available from the Council on Foreign Relations. The interview focused on Caldwell's latest book, Seeking Security in an Insecure World.

Bizwomen.com, March 2006 – Promise Phelon, alumna of Pepperdine's Graziadio School of Business and Management (GSBM), was featured in an article titled, "Promise of the Satisfied Customer" about her consulting firm, The Phelon Group. Phelon heads her firm with the help of Dianna Sadlouskos, former head of GSBM's career development and recruitment section, and Pepperdine alumnus, Steven Nicks.

Newsday.com, Mar. 1, 2006 – Paul Westphal, Pepperdine men's basketball head coach, was quoted in an article on the 2006 West Coast Conference (WCC) championship venue.

Christian Science Monitor, Mar. 2, 2006 – Doug Kmiec, Caruso Family Chair in Constitutional Law, was quoted in an article titled "More Pushback from Hill on Eavesdropping" about the appropriate course to be taken in the future concerning the balance of power in the US government.

ABA Journal E Report, Mar. 3, 2006 – Doug Kmiec, Caruso Family Chair in Constitutional Law, was quoted in an article titled "Hobbs Act No Tool Against Abortion Foes" about the fine line between extortion and violent behavior with regards to anti-abortion groups and the US Supreme Court's recent ruling in favor of anti-abortion groups' right to protest. 

Optimist, Mar. 3, 2006 – A former Pepperdine professor of mathematics, the late Sam McReynolds Jr., was featured in the article "Professor Emeritus Dies of Heart Failure" honoring his lifetime commitment to excellence as a teacher.

Miami Herald, Mar. 4, 2006 – Steven M. Sultanoff, Ph.D., Pepperdine adjunct professor, was quoted in the article "Parents can Teach Child by Example" about the need for parents to balance both stern and emphatic responses while raising children. 

Ventura County Star, Mar. 5, 2006 – Donald Brown, Pepperdine right-field baseball player, was featured in the article titled "Brown Breaks out of Slump in big way for Pepperdine" about his recent successes on the team. 

Los Angeles Times, Mar. 5, 2006 – John Watson, Pepperdine University athletic director, was quoted in an article following the WCC's men's basketball championship tournament.

Collegian, University of Tulsa, Mar. 7, 2006 – Pepperdine Adjunct Professor of Guitar Kenton Youngstrom was mentioned in an article titled "Falla Guitar Trio will perform in Sharp Chapel," which announced a performance by the Falla Guitar Trio, of which Youngstrom is a founding member.

Malibu Times, Mar. 8, 2006 – Dorothy Stotsenberg, special ambassador to Pepperdine University, was spoken about fondly in an article titled "Renowned Malibu Resident Injured in PCH Accident" about a recent automobile accident she was involved in on the way to church.

Los Angeles Times, Mar. 8, 2006 – Julie Rousseau, Pepperdine women's basketball team head coach, was featured in an article titled "Pepperdine's Title a Shocker" about the team's West Coast Conference (WCC) Tournament titled victory.

Boston Globe, Mar. 8, 2006 – Doug Kmiec, Caruso Family Chair in Constitutional Law, was quoted in the article "GOP Senators Refuse Eavesdropping Inquiry" about Senate Republicans' recent rejection of a full inquiry of the Bush Administration's domestic spying program. 

VenturaCounty Star, Mar. 9, 2006 – Zachary Lodmer, Argam DeHartunian, and Chris Sorley, Pepperdine University School of Law students, were quoted in an article titled "Roberts Talks About Role of Judiciary" about Chief Justice John Roberts' first speaking engagement since taking his place on the United States Supreme Court. Roberts gave his speech at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and these students were among one hundred School of Law students who met with him privately before the event.

Palisadian Post, Mar. 9, 2006 – PepperdineUniversity was noted in an article titled "Local Connection to This Year's Oscars", which mentioned the discussion of the film Munich held on the Malibu campus. Film expert Allan Mayer, who was featured in the article regarding his directorial contribution to the film, participated in the Pepperdine discussion sponsored by the School of Public Policy.

Optimist, Mar. 10, 2006 – Pepperdine University was mentioned in an article titled "Club to Bike to California For Cause" about 20 members of the men's social club, Gamma Sigma Phi, completing a 1,200 mile bike ride to raise funds for "brittle bone" disease research. The race began at Abilene Christian University and concluded at Pepperdine's Malibu campus.

National Catholic Reporter, Mar. 10, 2006 – Keith Whitney, associate professor of business law and finance and chair of the Business Administration Division of Seaver College, wrote an op-ed titled "Business Ethics from a Lion, a Witch, and a Wardrobe," in which he advocates the study of literature as a method for teaching business ethics and ethical leadership.

Monterey Herald, Mar. 10, 2006 – Jessica Ross, a freshman guard for the Pepperdine University women's basketball team, was mentioned in a sports brief about her participation in the team's West Coast Conference title win.

Kansas City Star, Mar. 11, 2006 – James Q. Wilson, Pepperdine School of Public Policy's Ronald Reagan Professor, was referenced and quoted in an op-ed titled "Muslim Leaders Should Give Marketplace a Chance" about the reconciling of personal freedoms with religion in the West, and the lack of such reconciliation in most Islamic countries.

Al-Jazeera Television, Mar. 12, 2006 – Khalil E. Jahshan, executive director of the Washington, D.C. Internship Program, was interviewed on Al-Jazeera's "Behind the Headlines" about the question of civil war in Iraq.

Voice of America, Mar.13, 2006 – Douglas Kmiec, Caruso Family Chair in Constitutional Law, was quoted in an article titled "Order vs. Freedom in an Age of Terror" about civil liberties and national security in the United States and Europe after September 11.

Legal Times, Mar. 13, 2006 – Douglas Kmiec, Caruso Family Chair in Constitutional Law, wrote an article titled "United Against al Qaeda" about the wisdom of permitting government use of surveillance technology in the interest of national security.

New York Times, Mar. 14, 2006 – Pepperdine University was mentioned in an article titled "Colleges Open Minority Aid to All Comers," which discusses efforts at universities across the country to re-negotiate financial aid packages aimed at diversity. Pepperdine appears in an article, titled "Minority Scholarships Now Including White Students," on the same subject from All Headline News on Mar. 15.

Union-Tribune, Mar. 14, 2006 – Pepperdine women's basketball player Daphanie Kennedy was mentioned along with her team in an article titled "NCAA Women's Basketball Championship," which highlights the upcoming games.

Belleville News Democrat, Mar. 15, 2006 – James Q. Los Angeles Times, Mar. 15, 2006 – Pepperdine senior and women's basketball player Kelsey Ball was quoted in an article titled "Longshot Seniors Revel in Moment," about the special meaning for college seniors of playing in the NCAA tournament.

William Mitchell News, Mar. 15, 2006 – Pepperdine School of Law Professor Roger Alford was mentioned in an article titled "Family Law blog ranked in top 25 most popular law blogs." Prof. Alford compiled the rankings in his blog, Opinio Juris.

Canadian Jewish News, Mar. 16, 2006 – Khalil Jahshan, executive director of the Washington, D.C. internship program, was mentioned in an article titled "Israeli, Palestinian 'narratives' focus of Concordia event." Jahshan served as one of two keynote speakers at a symposium held from Mar. 19 to Mar. 21, 2006, at Concordia University, that addressed the Israeli and Palestinian conflict.

Washington Times, Mar. 16, 2006 – Pepperdine University School of Law Dean Kenneth W. Starr was mentioned in a column titled "Inside the Beltway," which described the public appearance of Supreme Court Chief Justice John G. Roberts, Jr. at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley on Mar. 8, 2006. Roberts spoke to a private audience of students from Pepperdine University School of Law.

Pasadena Weekly, Mar. 16, 2006 – Rick Caruso, real estate developer and Pepperdine School of Law alumnus, was the subject of a cover story, titled "On Top of His Game."

Palisadian-Post, Mar. 16, 2006 – Graduate School of Education and Psychology Associate Dean of Psychology Robert deMayo was featured in an article titled "Palisadian Bob deMayo Honored for Contribution to Psychology," which detailed his recent acceptance of the California Psychology Association's Distinguished Contribution to Psychology as a Profession award.

CyclingNews.com, Mar. 16, 2006 – A paper written by Pepperdine sports medicine professor, Dr. Holden McRae, and J.T. Herr, titled "The Effects of Mountain Bike Wheel Size on Performance in Uphill and Cross-country Cycling" was referenced in an article about new bike wheel technology.

Orange County Register, Mar. 16, 2006 – Gary Galles, professor of economics, wrote an op-ed titled "Happy birthday, James Madison" about the relationship between the Constitution and the power of the federal government, in honor of the 255th birthday of the former President and "father of the Constitution."

The Island Packet, Mar. 17, 2006 – Pepperdine freshman baseball player Jonathan Cook was mentioned in an article titled "Eagles Taking Flight" about high school baseball teams in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Mar. 18, 2006 – Douglas Kmiec, Caruso Family Chair in Constitutional Law, was quoted in an article titled "From Left and Right, Doubt on Wiretaps," which discussed the uncertainty liberals and conservatives share about the legality of government wiretapping.

The Norman Transcript, Mar. 18, 2006 – Pepperdine women's basketball head coach Julie Rousseau was quoted in an article titled "Ready to Go," which favorably described the Waves, their hard work, and their place in the NCAA tournament.

Orange County Register, Mar. 18, 2006 – Pepperdine University's Graziadio School of Business and Management was featured in an article titled "MBA program created for stay-at-home moms," which described the new GSBM morning MBA program designed for businesswomen who have left the workforce while raising their children.

Baltimore Business Journal, Mar. 19, 2006 – Don Atwater, practitioner faculty of economics in the Graziadio School of Business and Management, was referenced for his expertise in an article titled "Help wanted: Truckers, dock workers in short supply" about the shortage of blue-collar workers in America.

Los Angeles Times, Mar. 19, 2006 – Pepperdine women's basketball head coach Julie Rousseau was quoted in an article titled "Pepperdine Falls Short." Rousseau commented positively on the quality of the Pepperdine women's basketball team, and the challenge of facing Oklahoma star freshman Courtney Paris in the NCAA tournament game on Saturday, Mar. 18.

Orange County Register, Mar. 20, 2006 – Pepperdine University's Graziadio School of Business and Management was featured in an article titled "Pepperdine, UCI Offer Different Student-consulting Models," which highlighted the student business consulting model developed at Pepperdine and known as the E2B program.

One Republic, Mar. 20, 2006 – Seaver College Professor of economics Gary Galles wrote an op-ed titled "We Need More Cleveland in Washington," advocating the candidacy of someone like Grover Cleveland in the 2008 Presidential elections, in honor of the former President's birthday on Mar. 18.

Los Angeles Business Journal, Mar. 20, 2006 – Linnea Bernard McCord, associate professor of business law at Pepperdine University's Graziadio School of Business and Management, wrote an article titled "Enron Trial Serves as Warning to the Wayward," which describes the Enron trial as opportunity to assess the ethics of American capitalism and its system of excessive compensation to corporate executives.

NPR.org, Mar. 22, 2006 – Douglas Kmiec, Caruso Family Chair in Constitutional Law, was the featured speaker in a commentary titled "Eavesdropping Policy Best if not Built on Worst-Case Scenarios" on NPR's Morning Edition. Kmiec warns Congress and the President not to consider worse-case scenarios when debating the importance and legality of government eavesdropping.

San Francisco Chronicle, Mar. 22, 2006 – Pepperdine alumni Dan Haren and Noah Lowry were featured in an article titled "A's Notebook: Haren-Lowry face-offs produce comic relief," which describes the meetings of these Pepperdine roommates and competing professional baseball players on the field.

Family Business Magazine, Spring 2006 – Otis Baskin, Graziadio School of Business and Management professor of management, was interviewed and quoted in an article titled, "A farm family goes high-tech," which describes how a family business in Northern California made the transition from farming to high technology.

Financial Times, Mar. 23, 2006 – Linda Livingstone, dean of the Graziadio School of Business and Management, was quoted in an article titled "Business schools give women a step up," which features the school's new morning MBA program designed for businesswomen who have taken time away from work to raise their children.

Acorn, Mar. 23, 2006 – The Natural Science Division of Seaver College was mentioned in an article titled "Earth Day to be celebrated at Headwaters Corner," for its participation in an Earth Day Celebration event.

Santa Barbara Independent, Mar. 23, 2006 – Dan Caldwell, Seaver College distinguished professor of political science, and Robert E. Williams, associate professor of political science, coauthored an article titled "A Tragic War of Choice," which assessed the consequences and mistakes of the war in Iraq.

San Francisco Chronicle, Mar. 24, 2006 – David Davenport, distinguished professor of public policy, wrote an op-ed titled "The AP Arms Race" questioning whether a national push to involve more high school students in Advanced Placement courses is the most appropriate tool to ratchet up the education of large numbers of high school kids.

Orange County Register, Mar. 26, 2006 – Several members of the Pepperdine baseball team were mentioned in a sports brief article titled "Freshman Pitcher Leads Pepperdine to Victory."

Los Angeles Times Education Supplement, Mar. 27, 2006 – The Pepperdine University Graduate School of Education and Psychology (GSEP) was mentioned in an article titled "A Win-win Deal for Everyone Involved," which described GSEP's partnership with Southern California employers offering tuition reimbursement. Director of recruitment and admissions Fionnbarr Kelly was referenced for information about graduate programs and opportunities.

Daily Journal, Mar. 27, 2006 – The Pepperdine School of Law (SOL) Center for Entrepreneurship and the Law was featured in an article titled "Large Gift Prompts Endowment of Entrepreneurship-Law Center," which describes the endowment of the Center thanks to a generous gift from SOL alumnus, Geoffrey Palmer, who was quoted in the article. SOL students Ryan C. Lennox and Jason L. Nazar were quoted as well for their positive opinions of the Center.

Orange County Register, Mar. 31, 2006 – Karen Martin, chair in natural science and professor of biology, was mentioned and quoted in an article titled "DFG Lengthens the Season on Groundfish," which described the Department of Fish and Games activities this season, including the Grunion Greeter program and its workshop at Pepperdine this month.

San Francisco Chronicle, Mar. 31, 2006 – Pepperdine alumni and professional baseball players Dan Haren and Noah Lowry were featured in an article titled "Pitching Power: Well-stocked Rotations Hold Key to A's, Giants' Playoff Hopes" about the importance of starters' rotation for the San Francisco Giants and Oakland A's.
