CBS-KCOY 12 News This Morning, September 12, 2006 - Pepperdine University was mentioned on several television news programs that covered the 9/11 fifth anniversary memorial service at the Heroes Garden on the Malibu campus. Deena Burnett, wife of Graziadio School alumnus Tom Burnett who died on United Flight 93, spoke at the service. Coverage aired on CBS affiliates in California and Arkansas, ABC affiliates in California and Arkansas, FOX affiliates in California and Nevada, as well as KCAL, KNBC and KFWB in Los Angeles.

Beyond the Beltway, September 17, 2006 – Stella Erbes, assistant professor of teacher education in Seaver College, appeared as a panel guest on the Time Warner program to discuss elementary and secondary education and the impact of the No Child Left Behind Act. The show aired on Sunday, Sept. 17; Monday, Sept. 18; and Tuesday, Sept. 19. It will air again on Wednesday, Sept. 20. Check local listings for times.

San Francisco Chronicle, September 14, 2006 – Distinguished Professor of Public Policy David Davenport and James Prieger, associate professor of economics, co-authored an op-ed titled "Cell-phone Bill Based on Faith, Not Research," which argues that the newly signed bill to require hands-free devices for cell-phones while driving in California is not supported by research and therefore should not be enacted into law. OC Register, September 7, 2006 – Gary Galles, professor of economics, wrote an op-ed titled "California Focus: 'Gut and Amend' Bills Deserve a Veto," which describes the negative consequences of using a legislative practice dubbed "gut and amend" (GANDA) to push end-of-session bills through to the governor without proper review by legislators or the public.
