New Yorker, September 17, 2007 – Ed Larson, Hugh and Hazel Darling Professor of Law, released a new book titled A Magnificent Catastrophe: The Tumultuous Election of 1800, America’s First Presidential Campaign, which was reviewed in an essay titled “Party Time: Smear Tactics, Skulduggery, and the Début of American Democracy.” Read the article.

Tidings, September 14, 2007 – Doug Kmiec, Caruso Family Chair in Constitutional Law, wrote an op-ed titled “Back to School: Will Truth be Admitted,” about a recent ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals which upheld a school’s decision to ban a Bible club from meeting in a school classroom. Los Angeles Times, September 13, 2007 – Doug Kmiec, Caruso Family Chair in Constitutional Law, wrote an op-ed titled “In Defense of Chemerinsky,” about the controversial news that University of California, Irvine withdrew the offer of dean of the new law school from Duke law professor Erwin Chemerinsky apparently because of his political beliefs and work.
