A number of news outlets reported on the Christian Scholars’ Conference held June 16 to 18 at Pepperdine. The Christian Post published the following: “Polkinghorne: Colleges Need to Give Theology Same Priority as Science,” June 20; “Christians Urged to Help Solve Food Crisis,” June 20; “Christian Scholar: Stem Cell Research is Not Baby-Killing,” June 21; “Francis Collins: Atheist Richard Dawkins Admits Universe’s Fine-Tuning Difficult to Explain,” June 21; and “Interview: Scholar Edward Fudge on Alternative Third View of Hell,” June 23. The Ventura County Star, June 17, published an article titled, “Does Hell Exist? Theologians Dissect the Question.” The Christian Chronicle, June 13, published an article titled, “Christian Scholars’ Conference Focuses on ‘The Path of Discovery.’” The Orlando Sentinel, June 9, published a before-the-event article titled, “Conference Promotes Harmony Between Science and Faith.” And Pepperdine’s student publication, The Graphic, June 18, published an article titled, “Scholars Bridge Gap Between Faith and Science.”
Educause Quarterly Magazine, July 2011 - Timothy Chester, vice provost and chief information officer, was featured in an article titled "Outsource the Transactional, Keep the Transformative.” The article covered the key criteria for successfully outsourcing an Anytime Computer Support for a university. Los Angeles Times, June 20, 2011 – Larry Cox, associate professor of entrepreneurship at the Graziadio School of Business and Management, was quoted in an article titled, “Advice: Tips and Warnings for Aspiring Entrepreneurs,” in which he stressed that start up business owners work longer hours for less money. Ventura County Star, June 16, 2011 – Darryl Tippens, University Provost, authored an article titled, “When Science and Faith Become Friends Again,” in which he discusses the historical union between faith and science and calls for a reunion of the two in higher education. Read the article.
The Orange County Register, June 15, 2011 – the Private Capital Market Project at the Graziadio School of Business and Management was mentioned in an article titled, “Up, Down, Which Economic Survey Do You Believe?” for its survey of 2,500 business owners worldwide, which reported that the majority of business owners seek growth but most do not have the capital for growth. Los Angeles Times, June 11, 2011 – Pepperdine was mentioned in an article titled, “Navy Crew Welcomed to Malibu for Shore Leave,” for opening the doors to the Frederick R. Weisman Museum of Art for the 270-strong crew of a Navy destroyer anchored near the Malibu pier for a weekend in early June. Read the article.

The Daily Journal, June 8, 2011 – Rick Cupp, the John W. Wade Professor of Law at the School of Law, was quoted in an article titled, “AT&T Seeks to Limit Pellicano Damages,” in which he commented that laws concerning damages under California's Privacy Act are "fuzzy" and "unclear,” regarding a case involving communications giant AT&T. New York Times, June 3, 2011 – Ed Larson, the Hugh & Hazel Darling Chair in Law at the School of Law, was the subject of an article titled, “Science and the Race for the South Pole,” in which his latest book, Empire of Ice, was reviewed. Read the article.
