Tom Shadyac of Seaver College directed and produced the new film Evan Almighty, which opened in theatres on June 22. more
Nick Rodionoff has been selected as the featured artist for the 2007 Malibu Arts Festival.
Ken Starr represented the National Geographic Society (NGS) in the case Greenberg v. National Geographic Society, which was recently decided in NGS's favor. more
Ed Shafranske will serve as invited faculty and respondent in a symposium on "Spirituality in Clinical Psychoanalysis" at the annual meeting of the American Psychoanalytic Association held this year in Denver, Colorado.
Doug Kmiec participated in a debate on "Striking the Right Balance between Liberty and Security" on June 22 at the general session luncheon of the 2007 State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas.
Lee Kats was featured for his research in an article titled "Understanding the Invasion Ecology of Exotic Crayfish in California," which was published by California Sea Grant. Seaver College student Laura Jones was mentioned in the article.

Frank Novak edited a new book titled "In Old Friendship": The Correspondence of Lewis Mumford and Henry A. Murray, 1928-1981, which was published by Syracuse University Press (Syracuse: Syracuse UP, 2007). The edition includes biographical chronologies, a substantial critical introduction, and annotations.

David Holmes has been elected to the College Nominating Committee for the National Council of Teachers of English.
Robert Chandler's original research report, "Message Maps: Blueprints for Pandemic Preparedness," has been released nationally by the 3n (National Notification Network) of Glendale, California. The article reports Dr. Chandler's research findings and normative guidelines for organizational communication priorities during health emergencies such as a pandemic.
Cynthia Ferrell, senior special projects officer, wrote an original work titled "The Roger and Joe Street Show," which was produced on Sunday, June 3, in Brentwood, California, by the Alliance of Los Angeles Playwrights and Dutton's Bookstore.
Ed Shafranske and novelist Gordon McAlpine gave a presentation and facilitated a public discussion on psychoanalytic aspects of Shakespeare's Hamlet following its performance by the South Coast Repertory Theatre on Sunday, June 10.
Michael Murrie wrote an article titled "Pepperdine Decides to Build Do-it-Yourself Serve System," which was published in the May 2007 issue of Government Video magazine. Pepperdine chief engineer Bill Dawson developed the server.
Timothy Chester was appointed chair of the editorial board of EDUCAUSE Quarterly, a practitioner's journal for college and university managers and users of information resources—information, technology, and services—published quarterly by EDUCAUSE.
Stephen Davis was presented the Steve Allen "Excellence in Education" Award by the Economic Alliance of the San Fernando Valley on May 23 at Valley Presbyterian Hospital.
Robert Kaufman discussed his new book, In Defense of the Bush Doctrine, at a noon lecture at the Heritage Foundation's Lehrman Auditorium on May 17. The book event was captured by C-SPAN2 and aired on June 2 on BookTV. Watch the book event. Kaufman also discussed his new book at a meeting of the Westlake Village Republican Women Federated on May 23.
Dennis Lowe and Emily Scott-Lowe were interviewed about the question of how to cope with a depressed spouse for a book titled The 7 Stages of Marriage.
