Robert Chandler presented as a subject matter expert on PL 110-53 (Public Law 110-53) and ISO/PAS 22399 Section 7.4 Communications and Warnings at The Conference Board summit meeting held in New York City May 13 and 14.

Cynthia Ferrell's new short musical, The Rightful Monarch of America, premieres June 23 and 24 at Burbank's Colony Theatre. Created with Avenue Q lyricist Jeff Marx and Disney composer Carl Johnson, the musical is produced by the Academy for New Musical Theatre as part of its annual festival.

Michael Gose's book, What It Means To Be a Teacher, was favorably reviewed in the May edition of NEA Today, the flagship publication of the National Education Association.

Robert Scholz presented a talk titled "Sexual Assault: Understanding the Offender and What Campuses Can Do to Intervene" to the Santa Monica-UCLA Rape Treatment Center, Campus Roundtable, on May 15.

Douglas Swartzendruber has been appointed interim associate dean of Seaver College.

Gwendolyn Whitfield was named editor of Global Supply Chain Review. The journal is published by The Global Supply Chain Leaders Group (GSCLG), which serves the senior leaders of supply chain management in business, government, and industry on a worldwide basis. more

Robert Chandler presented the results of an empirical research study on the impact of video conferencing (video communication) as a rich media modality for crises and emergency situations at the GTC West 2008 Conference on California's Future held in Sacramento on May 15.

Edward Shafranske and Carol Falender edited a new volume titled Casebook for Clinical Supervision: A Competency-Based Approach, which was published by the American Psychological Association (APA). This is a companion volume to their co-authored text Clinical Supervision: A Competency-Based Approach, published by APA in 2004.

Timothy Chester, chief information officer, wrote an article titled "Tips on Relieving Overloaded E-Mail Systems While Saving Money," which was published in the e-magazine CIO.com on April 30. In it Chester discusses how he implemented an e-mail alternative solution that cut costs, saved storage resources, and addressed security problems at Pepperdine.

Joel Fox launched an online newsletter called Fox & Hounds Daily, which will keep tabs on the most recent California business and politics. Michael Shires is a guest blogger on the Web site.

Ted McAllister reviewed Daniel Tanguay's Leo Strauss: An Intellectual Biography for First Principles web journal in an essay titled "The Theologico-Political Problem Revisited: How to Think About the Modern Project."

Margaret Riel was honored with the world's most prestigious distance learning award at the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) 2008 National Conference in St. Louis, Missouri. more

Timothy Chester, chief information officer, participated in a panel discussion titled "International Update: My Internet2 Connection Reaches Who, What and Where?" at the Spring 2008 Internet2 Member Meeting in Washington, D.C. on April 22.

Pete Peterson, lecturer at the School of Public Policy, wrote an essay titled "Firm Foundations?" which was published in the online journal Provocations.

James Prieger presented "The Economics and Policy of Regulation and Innovation" on April 29 at Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School of Business in China.
