Pepperdine Hosted YouthWAVE Christian Camp

YouthWAVE

July 14, 2006 - Over 100 high school students, youth ministers, and youth workers came to Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif., from July 9 to July 15 for YouthWAVE, a Churches of Christ summer program. YouthWAVE, short for "Youth with a Vision for Evangelism," helps students learn how to delve deeper into their faith. Joined by adult leaders who participated fully in the week's events, the students gained experience and confidence to share their faith with their friends.

YouthWAVES

Now in its third year at Pepperdine, YouthWAVE gathered 85 high school juniors and seniors from 10 Churches of Christ across the country for this intensive program. Participants spent morning hours training in such topics as being a better listener, seeing God in others, and forgiving enemies. In the afternoon they visited local communities to put these skills in action. They also participated in youth group activities in the evenings.

Said Kym Dildine, program coordinator for the Pepperdine Office of Church Relations: "We're happy to have students from all over the country here to grow stronger in their faith and to share in the University's mission of service and leadership."

YouthWAVE currently takes place at Pepperdine University and Concordia University in Austin, Texas, where the program has been located since its inception six years ago. Students interested in attending YouthWAVE must be selected by their youth ministers, and then complete the application process online.
