Pepperdine Men's Volleyball Players Tabbed MPSF Academic All-Conference  

June 16, 2006 - Pepperdine men's volleyball players Jon Grobe and Jonathan Winder were named to the 2006 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Academic All-Conference Wednesday, June 14, by the league office.

Junior outside hitter Jon Grobe earned the first post-season award of his career by maintaining a 3.12 grade point average (GPA) in the field of Public Relations. The Kaneohe, Hawaii, native started 21 of 24 matches for the Waves who ended the season in the semifinal round of the MPSF tournament. Grobe recorded 181 kills with 46 blocks in his first season as a starter.

Jonathan Winder

Sophomore setter Jonathan Winder carries a cumulative GPA of 3.19 but is undecided on a major. The 6-foot-8-inch Winder set Pepperdine to a .320 hitting percentage in his second year running the offense. The Irvine, Calif., native ranked third on the team with 103 total blocks.

In order to qualify for Academic All-Conference, student-athletes must: hold a 3.0 GPA; be a sophomore academically; completed one full academic year at institution; and must have competed in 50-percent or more of the institution's matches.
