Pepperdine Presents the Student Fall Musical Damn Yankees

Damn Yankees

The Pepperdine University Fine Arts Division Theatre and Music Departments presented their fall musical, Damn Yankees, as part of the Mary Pickford-Stotsenberg Performance Series. The two-week fall musical performances runs from Nov. 9 through Nov. 18 at Pepperdine's Smothers Theatre on the Malibu campus.

Damn Yankees portrays the life of a middle-aged baseball fanatic, Joe Boyd, after he trades his soul to the devil (the charming but devious Mr. Applegate) for a chance to lead his favorite team to victory in the pennant race against the New York Yankees. Light, fast-paced, and devilishly clever, the musical is a home-run hit filled with rousing production numbers and popular favorites like “Heart” and “Whatever Lola Wants.”

Cathy Thomas-Grant directed the student cast, with Bill Szobody as choreographer. Tony Cason conducted the Pepperdine University Orchestra.

Damn Yankees was presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
