Pepperdine Hosted Family Weekend

Pepperdine University hosted Family Weekend  Oct. 13 to Oct. 15 where Pepperdine students and their families had an opportunity to visit and participate in events that provided a glimpse into student life at Seaver College.

An annual Pepperdine tradition, Family Weekend events included a reception hosted by President Andrew K. Benton and his wife, Debby, at the Brock House. Later Friday night, the “Midnight Entourage” celebration took place at Firestone Fieldhouse kicking off the fall athletics season. Families also had an opportunity to see a play in Smothers Theater, visit classes, take a nature hike, or attend a West Coast Conference athletic event.

At Rockwell Academic Center Plaza on Oct. 14, Seaver College Dean David Baird updated everyone  on current Seaver happenings and Sarah Young-Jackson, director of the Seaver Parent Council, discussed additional ways families could get involved with the University.

This year’s weekend celebration was memorable for many reasons and in particular, because “Midnight Entourage” this year, included a tribute to Pepperdine’s winning athletic tradition. Representatives from Pepperdine’s 11 national championship teams spanning seven decades were be introduced. This Court of Champions was the first to welcome Pepperdine’s mascot to the Fieldhouse after an absence of several years.
