Pepperdine's University Communications Wins Several Design Awards

Pepperdine University

Excelling in the field of creative communications, Pepperdine's University Communications recently won several prestigious design-related awards. The division was awarded the prominent 2006 Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Circle of Excellence Program's Silver Medal, for Pepperdine University, Graziadio Business Report, in the category of web-based or electronic HTML external audience newsletter. In addition, the division won four highly selective 2006 Graphic Design USA awards in the categories of announcement and invitation for the Parkening Internation Guitar Competition brochure and program combination; the Graziadio Digital Entertainment Forum Invitation; brochure and collateral for the Graduate School of Education and Psychology view book; and direct mail and direct response design for the alumni "Click to Go Home" postcards.

About the Awards:

The international Circle of Excellence awards program recognizes outstanding work in communications, alumni relations, and fundraising as judged by peer professionals at schools, colleges, and universities as well as by professionals from outside of education. In 2006, 682 higher education institutions, independent schools, and nonprofits from around the world submitted more than 3,118 entries for consideration in 40 categories for this year's Circle of Excellence awards program. A panel of expert judges selected 350 for the gold, silver, and bronze awards.  CASE is the largest international association of educational institutions, serving more than 3,200 universities, colleges, schools, and related organizations in 54 countries. CASE is the leading resource for professional development, information, and standards in the fields of education fundraising, communications, and alumni relations.

The Graphic Design USA awards are among the most prestigious and the most selective of its kind as only 10% out of the thousands of entries were honored this year. Open to everyone in the design-related community, it honors outstanding new print, packaging, point-of-purchase, internet, interactive, and motion graphics work. Winners receive an embossed Certificate of Excellence for each piece selected and become eligible for reproduction in Graphic Design USA's Awards Annual, seen by over 100,000 colleagues and clients each year. The winning pieces will be featured in a published 300-page Annual circulated in December to Graphic Design USA's national audience of creative and marketing decision-makers. It will also be distributed all year at leading shows and events. Pepperdine will be featured as a winner on gdusa.com and may potentially be showcased as a creative project on the Adobe Web site in the future.
