Center for the Arts Presented Family Bluegrass Band Cherryholmes

Cherryholmes, the dynamic Grammy Award-nominated family band taking the bluegrass world by storm, performed at Pepperdine University's Smothers Theatre in Malibu on Friday, Jan. 26.
Back in 1999, the band known as Cherryholmes didn’t exist and half of its youthful members hadn’t even picked up instruments yet. In five short years, this high-energy Nashville-based act was named one of the five final nominees for the 2004 International Bluegrass Music Association’s Emerging Artist of the Year Award.
Their self-titled fourth album, Cherryholmes, debuted on Skaggs Family Records in September 2005. It features the exciting vocal harmonies and hard-driving virtuosity that have made Cherryholmes a favorite of audiences everywhere they play.
Vintage Guitar magazine observes: "Their particular brand of bluegrass music has a drive and energy that would leave even Bill Monroe out of breath."
The Cherryholmes family has several qualities that make them unique, but the basis of their success lies in plain, old-fashioned hard work combined with shining star talent that only appears to glow more brightly with each performance. They embody the American bluegrass dream.
