Pepperdine Men's Tennis Team National Title Voted Top Sports Moment

Men's Tennis Team

The Pepperdine men's tennis team's national championship victory over undefeated Georgia last May was named one of Southern California's top sports moments of 2006 at the Greatest Moments in Sports Awards Show, presented by the Los Angeles Sports Council.

The award came in the category of "Other Division I Schools" that excludes UCLA and USC, who had their own categories, and was determined by on-line fan balloting conducted by the L.A. Sports Council.

Capping a 36-2 season, Pepperdine claimed its first national championship and head coach Adam Steinberg was named National Coach of the Year as the Waves avenged their only two losses of the season by defeating Texas and Georgia in the national semifinals and finals, respectively, at Stanford.
