Deborah Majoras Opens Dean’s Executive Leadership Series

The Graziadio School of Business and Management will host Deborah Platt Majoras, chair of the Federal Trade Commission, on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the Edwards Irvine Spectrum as the first speaker of the 2007-08 Dean’s Executive Leadership Series. The high-profile series introduces students and alumni to leading business innovators working in the field today.
Deborah Platt Majoras was appointed chair of the Federal Trade Commission in 2004 and has since increased efforts to protect consumers from emerging frauds such as identity theft and deceptive spam. She has also focused on increasing the efficiency and transparency of the merger review process, implementing sound antitrust policy regarding intellectual property, and preventing anticompetitive government policies. Prior to her government work, including responsibilities in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division, Majoras served as a partner in the antitrust section at Jones Day.
The Dean’s Executive Leadership Series was created in Spring 2004 to help support the Graziadio School’s mission to provide business knowledge that is applied and relevant. Held each fall and spring, the series brings leading business practitioners and thinkers to Pepperdine to discuss real-world challenges and opportunities facing the business community today. To reach more members of the Pepperdine community, the series has expanded this year from Malibu to include locations in Orange County and Northern California.
Each lecture presentation in the series will be made available to podcast. For more information on how to subscribe, please click here.
