Graziadio School Offers New Masters Degree Programs
Pepperdine University's Graziadio School of Business and Management announced new full-time masters degree programs in Applied Finance and Global Business designed for non-business undergraduate majors wishing to pursue careers in business. A new part-time M.S. degree in management and leadership has been designed for experienced business professionals who wish to enhance their management and leadership abilities. Applications are now being accepted for classes starting in fall 2008.
Master of Science in Management and Leadership
The M.S. in Management and Leadership program provides professionals with a deeper understanding of their own leadership style and the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skills, and confidence to significantly enhance their management and leadership effectiveness.
"The degree is a part-time, 16-month master's program for the working professional with a minimum of five years of work experience," said Linda A. Livingstone, dean of the business school. "The ideal student is looking to expand their capacity to effectively lead increasingly complex teams, resolve underlying conflicts, and increase performance and effective communication."
Evening and weekend classes will be offered at Pepperdine's graduate campuses in West Los Angeles and Irvine, Calif., and will address such key issues facing managers today as increasing self-awareness and emotional resonance, building alliances, and leading co-located or virtual teams. Additionally, the curriculum focuses on developing conflict management and negotiation skills, applying systems thinking to organizational challenges, and improving organizational productivity and performance. Students will have the opportunity to create a leadership development plan, conduct and receive individual coaching, complete a service-leadership project in the community, and undertake an applied consulting project with a client organization.

Master of Science in Applied Finance
The M.S. in Applied Finance program offers an intensive 12-month curriculum providing students with the necessary foundation knowledge in quantitative analysis, accounting, and economics to allow for the in-depth study of applied finance. Tracks in investments, financial management, and financial accounting will prepare the students for entry-level and early-career opportunities in corporate finance, financial planning, commercial banking and other professional finance jobs.
"This full-time program is designed for new and recent college graduates with undergraduate degrees in Humanities, Social Science and other liberal arts disciplines," said Dean Livingstone. "With this degree, non-business majors receive the credentials to launch a career in business or broaden their current career path with solid financial expertise."

"This full-time program is also designed for new and recent college graduates with undergraduate degrees in Humanities, Social Science and other liberal arts disciplines who have strong international language skills, interest and awareness of international culture and who are interested in pursuing careers in global business, either at home or abroad," said Dean Livingstone. "In addition to completing the a comprehensive range of global business courses at Pepperdine's Malibu campus, students in the program will be required to complete a semester of study abroad or an overseas internship."
