Center for the Arts Presents 2008-09 Season

The Pepperdine University Center for the Arts presents its exciting lineup of performances and exhibitions for the 2008-09 season.

The new season begins Wednesday, Sept. 24, with Garrison Keillor, host of NPR's A Prairie Home Companion. Country music superstar Randy Travis performs on Thursday, Oct. 9, followed by the masterful improvisation of Ryan Stiles and Greg Proops in Whose Live Anyway? on October 10. Guitarist/vocalist Roger McGuinn (cofounder of The Byrds) makes a rare Southland solo appearance on Friday, Dec. 5, and jazz lovers will not want to miss singer Jane Monheit's holiday concert on December 6.

Continuing into 2009, the Michael Wolff Trio offers a special Valentine's concert on Saturday, Feb. 14. Broadway and television star Bebe Neuwirth performs her new one-woman cabaret show on Saturday, Mar. 7, and nine-time Tony Award winner Tommy Tune joins forces with the Manhattan Rhythm Kings on Friday, April 24.

Pilobolus Dance Theatre returns to Pepperdine Tuesday, Feb. 10, and California's Pacifico Dance Company showcases Mexican culture Sunday, May 3.

The Stotsenberg Recital Series introduces several up-and-coming young artists in Sunday afternoon concerts in the Raitt Recital Hall, and May 2009 marks the second Parkening International Guitar Competition.

The Kids' Playhouse Series, programmed for children ages 3 to 10, includes Saturday matinees of The Very Hungry Caterpillar on October 25, Junie B. Jones on February 14, and singer/guitarist Red Grammer on April 18.

The Pepperdine University Fine Arts Division also presents an array of student performances and productions, including the Flora L. Thornton Opera Program's staging of The Magic Flute and the Theatre Department's productions of Goodness, Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Roads to Home, and The Seagull.
