Pepperdine Hosts NCAA Men's Tennis Opening Rounds

Pepperdine Men's Tennis Team

The No.13 Waves men's tennis team will host the first two rounds of the NCAA Division I Tournament this weekend on the University's Malibu campus. Pepperdine (18-6) will play the University of Hawaii (8-10) in the first round of NCAA Division I action on Saturday, May 10, at 11 a.m. in the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center. Stanford will face UC Santa Barbara at 2 p.m.

The winners of each match will advance to the final on Sunday, May 11, at 1 p.m. The winner will earn a spot at the NCAA Team Tournament in Tulsa, Oklahoma, taking place Friday, May 16, through Tuesday, May 20.

The Waves lead Hawaii 3-0 in all-time meetings. Recently at the 2008 WCC Men's Tennis Championship, the Waves went 4-0 in all three of their WCC tournament matches. They won the WCC title for the 18th straight year and 39th time. The conference title gives the Waves an automatic berth in the first round of the NCAA Division I Tournament.

Tickets will be available only at the event. Adult tickets are priced at $5 per day; tickets for students and children are $3 per day. To view live stats of the match, please visit the Pepperdine Athletics Web site.
