Undergraduate Literary Magazine Now Available
Volume 38 of Expressionists: Magazine of the Arts, Pepperdine's student-run undergraduate literary and arts magazine, debuted with a gala on Wednesday, Apr. 22, at the Weisman Museum of Art. This year's issue is a collection of some of the best fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and photography of this current school year.
"This issue of the magazine is very strong, and I'm proud of the work these students are doing," says John Struloeff, Expressionists' faculty advisor and director of creative writing at Pepperdine University. "It was a pleasure to serve as faculty advisor and help guide the magazine through the production cycle."
Expressionists: Magazine of the Arts has a long history at Pepperdine. Any Pepperdine undergraduate, regardless of his or her declared major, may join the staff, which handles the initial screening of the manuscripts and artwork. All of the writing and photography is also the work of students. The magazine is tied in with the Coffeehouse Reading Series, an open mike forum for students and faculty to read their work, held each semester.
At the gala, which is held every spring, the magazine was distributed "hot off the press," and the authors included in the magazine were given the opportunity to read their work.
For more information on how to get a copy of year's magazine, or how to become a part of next year's staff, contact John Struloeff at (310) 506-7702.
