Pepperdine Law School Graduates Show Strong Results on California Bar Exam

The results for the Pepperdine School of Law students who took the July 2008 California Bar Exam have been released, and the school has had another strong showing. While the overall passage rate for all takers was 61.7 percent and the pass rate for schools accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) in California (first-time takers) was 83 percent, Pepperdine's passage rate was significantly higher at 89 percent.

The 89 percent ranks Pepperdine School of Law in the top four of all California ABA-accredited schools (tied with UC Berkeley). Only Stanford, USC, and UCLA are higher.

In addition, Pepperdine School of Law achieved a perfect record among out-of-state, first-time takers with 100 percent passing. Thirty-one Pepperdine students passed bar exams in 17 states: Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.

School of Law Vice Dean Tim Perrin praises the students' achievement. "We congratulate our graduates for the excellent results they achieved on the July administration of the bar examination in California and 17 other states," he says. "The future of the legal profession is bright with the addition of these new Pepperdine-trained lawyers."
