Graziadio School of Business and Management Professor Named Ascendant Scholar
Kevin S. Groves, an assistant professor of Organizational Theory & Management at the Graziadio School of Business and Management, was one of three management professors to receive the Ascendant Scholar Award from the Western Academy of Management, a non-profit regional division of the US-based National Academy of Management.

Groves, an assistant professor of Organizational Theory & Management at the Graziadio School of Business and Management, was one of three management professors to receive the Ascendant Scholar Award from the Western Academy of Management, a non-profit regional division of the US-based National Academy of Management.
The award recognizes exceptional scholars less than six years out of their doctoral program who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in research and teaching as well as the potential for future career success. Groves accepted his award at the Academy's annual meeting in Utah, held March 18-21.
Groves was chosen for his extensive research in executive development and succession planning, managerial thinking styles, leader social/emotional intelligence, and organizational change. A recent study he published on integrating leadership development and succession planning best practices in the Journal of Management Development earned Outstanding Paper at the Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence 2008. He has also contributed most recently to the Journal of Managerial Issues, Journal of Enterprising Culture, and Journal of Business Ethics.
Groves joined the Pepperdine University business faculty last fall. He was previously an assistant professor of management at California State University, Los Angeles, and director of the PepsiCo Leadership Center.
