The County of Los Angeles Releases Draft Environmental Impact Report for Pepperdine's Campus Life Project
On November 10, Pepperdine University announced the public release of the Draft Environmental Impact Report for the Campus Life Project. The report marks an important milestone in a long-term vision to enhance the quality of life for students on the Malibu campus through educational, residential, athletic, and recreational upgrades.
Pepperdine University provides a unique promise of transformation to students, which is exemplified through the emphasis on educating the "whole" student. The Campus Life Project is aimed at the learning that occurs outside of the four walls of the classroom. This project continues Pepperdine's commitments to provide a high-caliber education, maintain consistency with long-term plans, and ensure careful design that respects Pepperdine's neighbors and environment.
The Draft Environmental Impact Report will publicly circulate for 60-days with comments due to the County of Los Angeles on January 10, 2011. The County will hold the first public hearing at 5 p.m. on December 2, 2010 at the Caruso Auditorium in the Odell McConnell Law Center, Malibu. The purpose of this first hearing is to take public comment on the Draft Environmental Impact Report. Students, faculty, staff, and community members are invited to show support for this important and necessary enhancement project, which will modernize student amenities on an almost 40-year-old campus.
