The School of Public Policy (SPP) at Pepperdine University has released its second volume of student-run academic journal "Pepperdine Policy Review." The annual publication showcases the best scholarly work of SPP students, and features articles, commentaries, and opinion pieces that address a variety of political issues both nationally and internationally. more
Graziadio School Introduces 'MBA Plus' Program Offering Reduced Tuition for MBA Alumni

Professor Robert Lloyd Receives Academic Fellowship with Democracy Think Tank
Robert Lloyd, chair of the Seaver College International Studies program at Pepperdine University, has been announced as a 2009-10 Academic Fellow with the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies (FDD), which brings together educated minds to explore the threat to democracy posed by terrorist organizations. more
Dean Linda Livingstone of the Graziadio School Receives Success Award From the International Association of Business Communicators
The Los Angeles Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC-LA) will honor Linda Livingstone, dean and of the Pepperdine University Graziadio School of Business and Management, with the IABC-LA SUCCESS Award. Presented each year to a business leader in the Los Angeles area for outstanding and effective contributions to organizational communications, the SUCCESS award will be presented at the IABC-LA annual banquet on June 24, 2009, at Dodger Stadium. more
Three Waves Selected in 2009 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft
Pepperdine seniors Nick Gaudi, Nathan Newman, and Nate Simon were drafted during day two of the 2009 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. Approximately 140 Waves have been selected in the draft since 1966, including 25 student-athletes over the last six seasons while under the guidance of head coach Steve Rodriguez. more
Patron of the Arts, Flora L. Thornton, Honored at Masquerade Gala
Members and friends of the Center for the Arts Guild and the Crest Associates at Pepperdine University celebrated another successful year in style, as they donned elaborate masks for the annual summer gala theme, "Masquerade into the Night." The event on June 7 at the Malibu Jewish Center and Synagogue featured silent auctions, dinner for the 200-plus attendees, and a concert by the popular vocalist Steve Tyrell. more

Parkening International Guitar Competition Names 2009 Winners
After three days of high-pressure performances, Emanuele Buono, 21, of Italy was crowned winner of the prestigious Parkening International Guitar Competition, finishing with a stirring performance with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra at Pepperdine's Smothers Theatre on Saturday, May 30. He received the $30,000 Stotsenberg Prize, a gold medal, and international acclaim. more
Graziadio School to Launch Revitalized Entrepreneur Program with a Focus on Creativity
Beginning in fall 2009, the Graziadio School of Business and Management at Pepperdine University will launch a re-tooled and expanded entrepreneurship emphasis for full-time and fully employed MBA students. The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has named Pepperdine men's volleyball star Paul Carroll National Player of the Year for 2009. This lofty distinction caps off a prolific four-year career at Pepperdine for the Australian native. more
Religion Professor Stuart Love Authors New Book Exploring Jesus and Marginal Women
Stuart Love is a professor of religion at Seaver College but for the past few years he has stepped across academic boundaries into the realm of social science in order to write his latest book. Jesus and Marginal Women: The Gospel of Matthew in Social-Scientific Perspective explores Jesus' interactions with women from all walks of life, comparing and contrasting the New Testament era with our own as two very different social climates. more

Pepperdine Launches Center for Sustainability
Although the "green revolution" has gained momentum in recent years, Pepperdine's commitment to creating a sustainable campus began in 1972 when a water reclamation program was implemented for irrigation. Since then, Pepperdine has engaged in and created numerous other practices to minimize environmental impact and to instill in students an eco-minded awareness while furthering Pepperdine's Christian mission. more
Pepperdine Community Observes National Day of Prayer
The National Day of Prayer is an annual day of observance on which Americans of all faiths are invited to pray for the nation. Created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, it was signed into law by President Harry S. Truman and occurs on the first Thursday of May every year. Pepperdine Mourns the Passing of Jack F. Kemp
Pepperdine University joins a host of friends in expressing sympathy for the family of Jack Kemp at the loss of their husband and father. The University had a special relationship with Secretary Kemp who announced last year his decision to establish an archive of his papers at Pepperdine as the initial step in creating the Jack F. Kemp Institute for Political Economy at Pepperdine's School of Public Policy. more

Straus Institute's Academic Director Stipanowich Awarded William H. Webster Chair in Dispute Resolution
Thomas J. Stipanowich was recently named the William H. Webster Chair in Dispute Resolution, a new endowed chair at Pepperdine University School of Law. Stipanowich is the academic director of Pepperdine's Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, which has been ranked by U.S. News and World Report as the number one dispute resolution program in the nation for the last five years. more

Ken Starr, Duane and Kelly Roberts Dean of the School of Law, argued before the United States Supreme Court on Monday, April 20. The case is Horne v. Flores, which involves the expenditure of state funds toward English language education programs. more

Pepperdine University Dedicates 73 Acres of Open Space for Preservation
In 2000, Pepperdine University pledged a 72.7-acre property known as Little Las Flores Canyon, located approximately eight miles from the Malibu campus, for conservation and preservation in collaboration with government agencies. A dedication ceremony takes place on Friday, May 1, from 11 to 11:30 a.m., marking the impressive conservation milestone becoming a reality. more

Volume 38 of 'Expressionists: Magazine of the Arts,' Pepperdine's student-run undergraduate literary and arts magazine, debuted with a gala on Wednesday, Apr. 22, at the Weisman Museum of Art. This year's issue is a collection of some of the best fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and photography of this current school year. more
Water Polo Legend Terry Schroeder Nominated To U.S. Olympic Hall Of Fame
Terry Schroeder, former head coach of the Pepperdine men's water polo team and the U.S. Olympic men's water polo team, and one of the most legendary players in the history of the sport, has been nominated for the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame presented by Allstate. The four-time Olympian and coach of the men's silver-medal winning team at the 2008 Olympics is joined by a host of world class athletes including swimmer Gary Hall, Sr. and the 1992 men's basketball team. more
