Volunteer Opportunities: Ongoing Programs

Missions on Skid Row

The Union Rescue Mission and the Midnight Mission are now combined into one Volunteer Center program. Experience how one or both missions address hunger and homelessness on Skid Row, and learn about the common and different approaches the missions take.

WHAT ARE THE MISSIONS ON SKID ROW? Both the Union Rescue Mission and Midnight Mission are non-profit organizations located in downtown L.A. that offer numerous services to the homeless of Skid Row* including meals, clothing, and long-term rehabilitation and transition programs.

WHERE DO I FIT IN? On Friday and/or Saturday, help prepare and serve food to the homeless while working with and getting to know the staff, most of whom are formerly homeless men and women.

*Skid Row is a fifty square-block area encompassing a large homeless community of Los Angeles.
