Alumni Employee Separation Email Procedures

If you are an employee who is leaving the University, and also an alumnus of Pepperdine, there is special information you need to know regarding your email account.

Unfortunately, your email account will be disabled upon your separation date (or shortly after). Most accounts for alumni are deleted 90 days after graduation, but with employees it is immediate, regardless of your status as an alumnus or your graduation date. The Alumni Affairs office is here to make the transition from employee to alumnus as easy and painless as possible.

Once your email is disabled, you will no longer be able to receive emails at your Pepperdine email address. The sender will receive a bounce-back message that this account no longer exists.

To ease your transition, we recommend the following steps:

  1. You may wish to set-up your alumni email forwarding service by visiting the alumni online services.

    Note however, this isn't an email account in itself, but rather an address you can use in conjunction with an outside email account (such as a Gmail, Yahoo, or Hotmail account). This option still gives you the benefits of having the "pepperdine.edu" extension, allowing you to continue to leverage the power of your Pepperdine degree, as well as access benefits that are limited to alumni and educational institutions.
     
  2. Transfer your mail and contact list in Wavenet to an outside e-mail account so you don't lose that information.
  3. Notify any important contacts or online subscription services of your new email address.
EXCEPTION: If either you or your supervisor would like you to set up an out-of-office message on your email account before you leave, you will not be able to sign up for an alumni email address. Talk this over with your supervisor before you leave.
